Popular interior designer, Ehi Eghebor, has opened up about the dissolution of her marriage, clarifying that her decision to wed her former husband was not influenced by his financial standing, as she herself hails from an affluent background.

Recounting her marital journey, Ehi described the experience as akin to being in a 'luxury prison,' despite residing in a beautiful and comfortable home. She revealed that she first encountered her ex-husband approximately a year before they tied the knot, but they did not pursue a relationship at that time because she was underage. According to Eghebor, her ex-husband consistently expressed his desire to marry her and get to know her better.

Ehi emphasized that while her ex-husband possessed considerable wealth, this was not the primary attraction for her, given her upbringing in a financially comfortable household. She disclosed that her father was a prominent businessman in Benin, owning multiple filling stations, and she had the privilege of attending top-tier schools during her formative years. "I didn’t grow up poor. I mean, I didn’t even grow up average," she stated, underscoring that monetary gain was not the motive behind her marital choice.

However, Ehi explained that the marriage eventually became intolerable due to feelings of isolation and the realization that her husband was unwilling to change. Describing her former abode, she remarked, "It was like being in prison. Yeah. Maybe a luxury prison because the house was really nice." She further elaborated that despite enjoying the opulence, the overall experience left her feeling profoundly lonely and confined.

According to Ehi, the pivotal moment arrived when she acknowledged her husband's unchanging nature and the extent to which he had already isolated her. This profound realization ultimately empowered her to seek an exit from the marriage.
