FRSC Labels Viral Recruitment Directive as Fraudulent, Urges Disregard

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has publicly dismissed a widely circulated message that instructs individuals who were not shortlisted or did not receive an invitation for the upcoming 2026 recruitment drive to report to their nearest FRSC facility for verification. On Sunday, the Corps, via a statement shared on its official X handle, branded the advisory as bogus and unauthorised, strongly cautioning all prospective candidates against complying with its instructions.

According to the FRSC, the erroneous notice directed affected applicants to present themselves at the closest FRSC camp for verification by September 25, 2026. The Corps explicitly stated, "The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has categorically disowned a viral notice circulating on social media directing applicants who were not shortlisted or did not receive invitation messages to report to the nearest FRSC camp for verification on or before 25 September 2026. The notice is fake, unauthorised and should be disregarded."

The FRSC further stressed that it has not issued any such instruction and advised individuals not to proceed to any of its offices, camps, or training institutions based on the fraudulent communication. It reiterated, "The public is advised to rely only on official FRSC communication channels for information concerning the 2026 recruitment exercise."

It is important to note that the FRSC initiated its nationwide recruitment exercise for 2026 in July, inviting eligible Nigerians to apply for various positions across three cadres: the Officer Cadre (comprising Superintendent Route Commander, Route Commander/Deputy Route Commander, and Assistant Route Commander), the Marshal Inspectorate Cadre, and the Road Marshal Assistant Cadre. Currently, the official FRSC recruitment portal indicates that the application window has closed, and successful applicants will be contacted for subsequent stages of the process.

In light of these developments, the Corps issued a stern warning to applicants against making any payments, disclosing personal information, or following dubious links disseminated by unofficial sources purporting to facilitate the recruitment process. The FRSC declared that any individual found exploiting the recruitment exercise to defraud or mislead the public would face referral to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. The road safety body appealed to the general public to ignore the misleading publication and take precautions to avoid falling victim to recruitment scams.
