Dele Odule: Public Humiliation Demands Public Apology, Not Private One

Full Story
Veteran Nollywood actor, Dele Odule, has publicly advised individuals against accepting private apologies when they have been disrespected in public. In a recent post shared on his official Instagram page, the seasoned actor firmly stated that anyone who publicly embarrasses another person should equally demonstrate accountability and remorse in the public sphere.
“Never accept a private apology for public disrespect, never ever,” Odule emphatically wrote. He elaborated on his stance, explaining that offering an apology behind closed doors after causing public embarrassment does not genuinely resolve the situation for the aggrieved party. Instead, he suggested, such private gestures often serve primarily to alleviate the guilt or discomfort of the person extending the apology.
Odule further stressed the importance of restoring dignity and respect in the very same environment where it was initially compromised. His message underscores a call for open and transparent reconciliation when public actions lead to public offense.
