Nollywood Stars Recount Desperate Efforts to Save Cjay Nwoks

Nigerian actors and filmmakers have opened up about the intense struggle they faced in trying to save the life of their colleague, Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, widely known as Cjay Nwoks, before his untimely demise. The popular actor passed away on Wednesday, September 30.

Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday, who had a movie co-starring Nwoks slated for release on the very day of his death, tearfully confirmed his passing. She shared her grief directly from a hospital in Badore, Lagos, where the tragic incident occurred. Other industry figures have since come forward, expressing their shock, noting that Cjay Nwoks had appeared perfectly healthy just hours earlier, making his sudden death completely unexpected.

Actress Ruth Kadiri shared her disbelief, writing, "If any one had told me my day would end at the hospital I wouldn't have believed.. farewell CJ." Fellow actor Saheed Apanpa revealed he had a conversation with Cjay at 2 AM on the day of his passing. Apanpa mentioned that Nwoks had returned from the hospital earlier and assured him he was fine. Saheed penned a poignant tribute: "Hoping you wil stand up and say boss when are we working. We spoke at 2am. You sent my sister's birthday video to me. You said you were ok when you returned from the hospital yesterday. I am the last one here looking at you. Rest easy king. Your bro dan is messed up."

Filmmaker Zack Ineydo recounted the frantic race against time, detailing how they rushed Cjay Nwoks to three different hospitals in a desperate bid to save him. Ineydo described the heartbreaking scene of the actor's elder sister pleading with him to respond. Zack wrote, "If anyone had told me September would end with me with you inside the car, running around to three different hospitals, your body lifeless. God Cj, Your older sister kept talking to you, and pleading with you to respond to her touch, but your eyes were closed... Journey well Super Star. Journey well in the afterlife."

Many colleagues also shared stories of interacting with Cjay Nwoks earlier that day, receiving funny reels from him, highlighting the suddenness of his health deterioration. However, the exact cause of Cjay Nwoks' rapid decline and subsequent death remains undisclosed by the actors.
