Enugu State Governor Mbah Appoints Nollywood's Eucharia Anunobi, Rachael Okonkwo as Aides

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has confirmed the appointment of popular Nollywood figures, Rachel Okonkwo and Eucharia Anunobi, among his new set of aides. This development was officially communicated to the public on Monday through a statement released by Professor Chidiebere Onyia, the Secretary to the Enugu State Government.

Governor Mbah’s approval covers a total of 101 new appointees, distributed across three distinct categories: seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants, and 88 Special Assistants.

Rachel Okonkwo, widely recognized by her stage name 'Nkoli Nwa Nsukka', received the portfolio of Senior Special Assistant for Film and Creative Industry Development. Nnenna Rachael Okonkwo, her full name, is a notable Nigerian actress predominantly celebrated for her starring performances in the acclaimed 'Nkoli Nwa Nsukka' movie franchise. A native of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area within Enugu State, Okonkwo has built a significant career within Nigeria’s vibrant film sector.

In a separate appointment, veteran screen personality Eucharia Anunobi was designated as Special Assistant for Women Mobilisation, specifically for the Enugu-North Zone. Anunobi gained widespread recognition in the Nigerian film industry during the 1990s, having appeared in over 90 movie productions throughout her career. Subsequently, she transitioned into ministry, becoming an evangelist.

These appointments effectively integrate both actresses into the Enugu State Government structure; Okonkwo’s responsibilities will centre on fostering the film and creative sector, whereas Anunobi’s mandate involves leading women mobilisation efforts in the Enugu-North region.
