A devastating incident occurred on Tuesday night along the Abuja-Lokoja Federal Highway in Kogi State, resulting in the loss of six lives. The tragedy unfolded when a truck carrying gas cylinders exploded at an Army checkpoint within the Chikara Division, sparking a massive fire that engulfed several other vehicles. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, 'The driver of the gas truck and his motor boy were burnt to death. The fire also engulfed three other trucks, killing their drivers and motor boys. In all, six people lost their lives in the incident.' The affected trucks, which had registration numbers from Jigawa State, Lagos State, and the Federal Capital Territory, were completely destroyed in the inferno. Emergency responders, including police officers, personnel of the Motor Traffic Division, and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, rushed to the scene to provide assistance. The remains of the victims were taken to the General Hospital, Abaji, while the burnt vehicles were cleared from the highway to restore the free flow of traffic.
