A tragic road incident in Ibadan, Oyo State, has resulted in the death of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member. The fatality occurred when a trailer collided with multiple vehicles, including a motorcycle, near Agodi Gardens in the Ibadan North Local Government Area. The accident, which took place on Monday, October 12, 2026, also left several individuals with various injuries.

Reports indicate that the truck driver was involved in a series of collisions around the Sango axis of the local government prior to the fatal crash. The trailer then proceeded towards Agodi Gardens, where it reportedly struck a motorcycle conveying the corps member, leading to her immediate death at the scene.

An anonymous eyewitness, who spoke to Punch, stated that the articulated vehicle had already caused multiple collisions in the Sango area before the tragic event. The source, who requested anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media, recounted, “The articulated vehicle had been involved in multiple collisions around Sango before this fatal incident occurred. The truck driver had reportedly hit several vehicles around Sango before proceeding towards Agodi.”

The Oyo State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officially confirmed the incident. Corps Commander Kehinde Dahunsi, the sector commander, provided details to journalists. According to Dahunsi, the motorcycle operator suffered a fractured leg and was transported to the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan for medical attention. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased corps member was moved to the State Hospital morgue.

He further explained that emergency personnel swiftly arrived at the crash site to evacuate the casualties, noting that authorities were unable to ascertain the identity of the deceased during the immediate rescue efforts. Dahunsi quoted, “We recorded a traffic crash today around Agodi Gardens within the Ibadan metropolis. It involved a truck and a motorcycle carrying a corps member. Unfortunately, we lost the corps member, and the rider also sustained a fracture in his leg.” He reiterated that the rescue team conveyed the deceased individual to the State Hospital morgue and the injured rider to UCH for necessary medical care.
