LASEPA Moves Against Eight Lagos Businesses for Environmental Non-Compliance

Full Story
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has taken decisive action by sealing eight business premises situated in the Amuwo-Odofin area of the state. This move comes after these establishments were found to be in continuous breach of environmental regulations.
According to a statement released by the agency on Monday, these businesses had previously received multiple warnings, abatement notices, and opportunities to align with LASEPA's directives before the final sealing operation on Friday, October 9, 2026.
The agency's statement clarified that this enforcement drive aligns with the Lagos State Government's dedication to upholding environmental laws rigorously. Its purpose is to protect public health and foster a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment for everyone residing in the state.
The list of affected businesses includes De-Syls Hotel Suites, The New City Sip Lounge & Restaurant, Green Life Lounge, Anchor Leisure Lodge, Ancient African Kitchen, Fameface Packaging, Mamboo Food Lounge Fashion & Salon, and Famoss Hotel.
LASEPA specified the reasons for each closure. De-Syls Hotel Suites, located on First Avenue, Festac Town, was shut down due to excessive noise pollution. The New City Sip Lounge & Restaurant faced closure for similar noise issues and its failure to comply with the agency’s instructions. Furthermore, Green Life Lounge, Anchor Leisure Lodge, Fameface Packaging, Mamboo Food Lounge Fashion & Salon, and Famoss Hotel were all sealed for general non-compliance with LASEPA’s directives. Ancient African Kitchen, situated on Second Avenue, Festac Town, was found to be obstructing official duties in addition to its non-compliance.
In his remarks regarding the enforcement operation, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, reiterated the agency’s unwavering dedication to environmental protection. Dr. Ajayi emphasized that “Environmental compliance is a collective responsibility.” He further stated that LASEPA intends to escalate its enforcement efforts against individuals, businesses, religious organizations, and corporate entities whose actions jeopardize both the environment and public health.
He called upon business proprietors, facility managers, religious bodies, scrap dealers, and residents alike to embrace practices that are environmentally sound, ensure they secure all required permits and approvals, and adhere strictly to relevant regulations.
The statement concluded by clarifying that these enforcement actions are not meant to impede legitimate commercial activities. Instead, their primary goal is to guarantee that all establishments conduct their operations responsibly and in full accordance with established environmental laws and standards.
