Delta State: NYSC Teacher Remanded Over Alleged Child S£xual Abuse

A 31-year-old individual currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who also works as a teacher at a private educational institution situated off Jakpa Road in Delta State's Uvwie Local Government Area, has been taken into custody. The corps member has been formally charged in court concerning allegations of s£xual abuse involving a six-year-old female pupil.

During questioning, the young victim recounted that the corps member allegedly brought her to his living quarters located within the school premises on three separate occasions. These incidents reportedly occurred when her mother was delayed in picking her up from school. She further claimed that the teacher s£xually abused her and issued threats against her, warning her not to disclose the incidents to her mother.

In a video widely circulated online, the child's account of the events can be heard. She stated, "He took me to his room when everyone was not around." She continued, detailing the alleged assault: "He put one thing in my vagi, he now put his pe£pee, he now said if I tell my mummy, that he will b£at me and he will deny." When asked about the location of the alleged acts, she confirmed, "in his room." She added, regarding how she entered his room, "He dragged me." Further inquiries about the presence of her classmates elicited the response, "No. That time everybody have already closed." She also mentioned that her mother had not yet arrived for pick-up and her class teacher was absent at the time.

The child also alleged that following the acts, the corps member used a "white handkerchief" to wipe "bl**d" from her "pe£pee." Subsequent medical examinations reportedly indicated that the child's hymen had been broken.

A Delta-based human rights activist, who has been actively involved in the case, confirmed that the suspect was arraigned before High Court 1 in Effurun. The court ordered his remand at the Warri Prison, Okere. The legal proceedings have been adjourned, with the next hearing scheduled for September 18, 2026, pending the advisory opinion from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
