Miss Fumilayo, UI Law Student, Freed After Abduction Ordeal

The Students' Union of the University of Ibadan (UISU) has confirmed that Miss Fumilayo, a 300-level Law student from the institution, who was among several individuals recently abducted, has been set free. An official statement released by the Students' Union Government (SUG) on Monday morning indicated that they received verification of her release in the early hours of the day. The communication, co-signed by SUG President Temidayo S. Adeboye and General Secretary Joshua O. Shontan, specified that her freedom was affirmed by pertinent authorities and representatives from the involved organizations.
The statement quoted the UISU expressing delight, stating, "The University of Ibadan Students' Union is pleased to inform the University community that our student, Miss Fumilayo, a 300-Level student of the Faculty of Law, who was abducted alongside other individuals, has been safely released."
According to the union, those who have been freed are presently undergoing essential post-release processes before they can proceed to their various homes. It was further mentioned that the law undergraduate is anticipated to rejoin the university community once all requisite arrangements are finalized.
The union reiterated, "The released individuals are currently undergoing the necessary post-release procedures and will return to their respective destinations as arrangements are concluded. We have been assured that our student will safely return to the University community soon."
The students' body extended its gratitude to several parties, including security agencies, the management of the University of Ibadan, the leadership of the Scripture Union, and other key stakeholders whose collective efforts were instrumental in securing the student's liberty. Furthermore, the union acknowledged the unwavering support from members of the university community during the entire period Miss Fumilayo was held captive.
In its statement, the union conveyed, "The Students' Union sincerely appreciates the security agencies, University Management, the leadership of the Scripture Union, and everyone whose dedication contributed to this successful outcome. We also thank members of the University community for their prayers, patience, solidarity, and unwavering support throughout this period. Your compassion and unity have been truly encouraging."
Celebrating this positive development, the union offered prayers for the full recovery and good health of everyone impacted by the abduction incident.
The union concluded by stating, "As we celebrate this welcome news, we remain grateful to God and pray for the complete healing, restoration, and well-being of everyone affected."
