AMBO Promises Revamp of Osun Education Sector on Children's Day

As the world marks International Children's Day, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO, has made a commitment to revive the state's education system. In his Children's Day message, Oyebamiji shared his personal story of overcoming humble beginnings in Ikire to become a prominent figure in public service, emphasizing that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed regardless of their background. He stated that his administration, if elected on August 15, would prioritize the welfare, education, healthcare, and security of children through a people-focused approach as outlined in his PROSPERITY Agenda. Oyebamiji stressed the importance of equal opportunities for children in rural areas, saying they should have access to the same resources as their urban counterparts. 'I am living proof that a child's potential is not determined by their birthplace,' AMBO said. 'Growing up in a remote community with limited opportunities, I was able to break barriers and achieve my dreams through hard work, quality education, and divine grace. Every child in Osun State deserves the same opportunity.' Oyebamiji criticized the current administration, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, for abandoning the education reforms initiated by previous APC governments. He recalled that the previous APC administrations had transformed the education sector through massive infrastructure development, modern school facilities, and policies that gained national attention. 'Osun State was once a model for public education in Nigeria, giving children hope and dignity. However, it is disheartening to note that the policies that improved learning conditions under the APC have been scrapped without alternatives. Our children deserve better,' Oyebamiji said. He specifically condemned the cancellation of the school feeding programme introduced by the previous APC governments, which had significantly improved school enrollment, attendance, and learning outcomes among children from low-income families. 'The school feeding programme was more than just a meal; it was support for thousands of children from struggling homes. It encouraged many parents to send their children back to school and helped pupils learn in a healthier environment,' Oyebamiji added. The APC governorship candidate pledged to restore the programme immediately if elected. 'I assure every child and parent in Osun State that the school feeding programme will be reinstated under my administration. We will reintroduce policies that promote learning, reduce poverty, and restore confidence in public education,' he declared. Oyebamiji further promised a comprehensive overhaul of the state's public education sector, including the rebuilding of abandoned school infrastructure, recruitment of qualified teachers, improvement of learning materials, and deployment of technology-driven education policies across all local councils. 'Our mission is simple: to restore Osun's education to its former glory. No child should study under a leaking roof or sit on broken furniture while politicians waste public resources. Education will once again become the pride of Osun State,' he said.
