Trump's Crypto Ventures Yield Over $1bn in 2025, Ethics Report Reveals

A recent disclosure by the US Office of Government Ethics has shed light on the extensive financial gains made by US President Donald Trump through his involvement in the cryptocurrency sector. According to the documents, which span over 900 pages, Trump's income from cryptocurrency activities in 2025 totaled approximately $1.2 billion. A significant portion of this income, nearly $550 million, was derived from his association with World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency startup that launched in September 2024. The Trump family not only lent their name and support to this venture but also acquired a substantial amount of its cryptocurrency, WLFI, through an intermediary company, DT Marks Defi. This acquisition, coupled with the initial sale of WLFI and the subsequent marketing of a stablecoin, contributed to Trump's considerable earnings. Furthermore, Trump received $635 million in royalties from a licensing agreement related to the $TRUMP cryptocurrency, which was launched just before his inauguration in January 2025. The president's foray into the cryptocurrency sector has been a major factor in the near tripling of his personal fortune, which grew from $2.3 billion to $6.5 billion between 2024 and 2026, as reported by Forbes. Trump's investments in the crypto industry, while simultaneously implementing measures to deregulate the sector as president, have raised concerns about conflicts of interest. Additionally, Trump has earned millions of dollars from shares in publicly listed companies involved in cryptocurrencies, such as the Coinbase exchange platform. His assets are currently managed by a trust overseen by his son, Donald Trump Jr., although the trust can be dissolved at any time, potentially allowing Trump to regain control of his assets after his term in office.
