White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia's Five-Day Stint Ends Abruptly During WSJ Interview

Full Story
The tenure of Katie Zacharia as White House press secretary concluded after just five days, an event that unfolded dramatically while she was engaged in an interview about her new role, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The newspaper, in its account published on Friday, October 16, detailed how Zacharia was speaking with a reporter in her office when senior Trump adviser Jason Miller interrupted.
Miller reportedly knocked on the door and informed Zacharia that Vice President JD Vance wished to speak with both of them. Following this interaction, Zacharia departed from the room and did not resume her interview or return to her official duties, the publication stated.
President Donald Trump later addressed journalists, confirming that he had discussed the position with Zacharia earlier that day. Trump revealed he had encouraged her to reconsider the demanding role, stating, “I said, ‘Is this for you Katie? Because honestly, you don’t need this,’” and further advised, “Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider.” The report, however, did not definitively clarify whether Ms. Zacharia formally tendered her resignation or was officially dismissed from her post.
