Army Chief Lands in Borno Amidst Tinubu's Order to Eradicate Terr*rist Camps

Full Story
Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, Nigeria's Chief of Army Staff, arrived in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, on Saturday. His visit comes just 48 hours after President Bola Tinubu instructed security agencies to ensure the rescue of all kidn*pped individuals and the complete dismantling of every terr*rist and bandit hideout across Nigeria. General Shuaibu's plane touched down in the state capital at approximately 11 am on Saturday.
PUNCH Online had previously reported on October 15 that the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, disclosed President Tinubu's firm directive to the heads of security services. This instruction was issued during a high-level security meeting presided over by the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. According to Musa, President Tinubu also charged the service chiefs and other security leaders with guaranteeing a secure environment for Nigerians to cast their votes in the elections slated for January.
The Minister quoted the President directly, stating, “The directive from the President is: all of us must go all out to fish out and rescue all those that have been abducted, kidn*pped, wherever they are. There shouldn’t be any camp of any terr*rists or bandits anywhere in Nigeria.”
While it remains unconfirmed whether Lieutenant General Shuaibu's current visit is directly linked to this recent presidential mandate, our correspondent gathered that the army chief is scheduled to engage in discussions with theatre, field, and unit commanders stationed throughout Borno State. Further details regarding these meetings are anticipated.
