Full Story
The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the fatal attack on Seun Ajayi at a barbing salon in Ikire. DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the command's spokesperson, issued a statement on October 15, 2026, detailing the incident and subsequent arrests.
According to the police, the victim, Seun Ajayi, was receiving a haircut at a salon in the Oja-Ale area of Ikire when he was reportedly ambushed and killed with machetes by a group of hoodlums. A friend who was with Ajayi at the time managed to escape the assault.
The suspects taken into custody are Nurudeen Ademakinwa, also known as Igboya Aye-nuru, aged 30; Agboluaje Usman, 23; and Awoniran Toheeb, 20.
The police report indicates that on October 3, 2026, at approximately 7:30 PM, a complaint was lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ikire. The complainant stated that around 6:00 PM on the same day, he and Ajayi were at the barbing salon when they were attacked by armed individuals led by Nurudeen Ademakinwa. While Ajayi was macheted to death, the complainant successfully fled the scene.
Through an intelligence-led operation conducted on September 5, 2026, Ademakinwa and the two other suspects were apprehended in connection with Ajayi's death. During their arrest, authorities recovered one axe, two double-edge knives, and three Android phones.
Further allegations against Nurudeen Ademakinwa include sending threatening voice messages to residents of Wasimi, demanding they vacate the town or face severe consequences. He is also implicated in the killing of two passersby during an attack on police officers from the Ikire Division on August 24, 2026.
The Osun State Police Command assured the public that all suspects would be arraigned before a competent court of jurisdiction once the ongoing investigation is concluded.
