Police Uncover Abuja Body Dumping Plot Involving Woman, Guest House Workers

Authorities in the Federal Capital Territory have established a connection between a female suspect, two employees of a Gwarimpa guest house, and the discovery of a man's body abandoned beneath the Katampe Bridge in Abuja. This development was shared by CP Ahmed Sanusi, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, during a press briefing held on Saturday at the Command headquarters.

Sanusi explained that the deceased's remains were located on August 26, near Katampe along the Kubwa Expressway. Prior to this grim discovery, the individual had been reported missing by his family. Initial media accounts and public discussions had speculated that the incident might be related to kidn*pping or 'one chance' robbery.

The CP emphasized, "Beyond the media reports, however, there was a family grieving and struggling to understand what had happened to their loved one." He further noted that detectives confirmed the identity of the deceased as the individual previously reported missing, prompting a full investigation into the events leading to his demise.

A crucial breakthrough in the inquiry, according to Sanusi, came from the deceased's missing mobile phone. He stated, "In the course of the investigation, we discovered that the deceased’s mobile phone was missing. This became a significant lead in the investigation, and our operatives commenced efforts to track the device and establish its last known location and usage."

Despite the device being switched off, police investigators successfully traced the last communication made from the deceased's phone to Mrs. Rukayat Muhammed, residing in Garki Area 2, as confirmed by the Police Commissioner. Subsequent inquiries indicated that Muhammed, who is married, was reportedly involved in a romantic affair with the man, whose contact she had discreetly saved as 'Safiyat' on her mobile device.

Sanusi detailed that Muhammed and the deceased had checked into the Good Samaritan Guest House on Second Avenue, Gwarimpa. It was there, he explained, that Muhammed purportedly found the man unresponsive. The CP disclosed, "Rather than immediately reporting the incident to the Police, the suspect took the deceased’s mobile phone and left the hotel."

Hours passed, and after the hotel management's repeated attempts to reach the room's occupants proved unsuccessful, they eventually gained entry, discovering the man's lifeless body.

Sanusi further revealed that two employees of the guest house, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, are alleged to have taken the body from the room. They then transported it to the Kubwa Expressway, specifically near Katampe, before abandoning it beneath the bridge. The Commissioner quoted, "Instead of reporting the discovery to the Police, two members of the hotel management identified as Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus subsequently removed the body from the room and transported it to Kubwa expressway by Katampe under the bridge where they dumped it by the roadside."

However, the Commissioner of Police emphasized that the precise cause and conditions surrounding the man's death are yet to be determined. Sanusi stated, "The exact cause and circumstances of the deceased’s death still under investigation, other investigative processes are being pursued to determine the full facts of the case." He affirmed that anyone implicated in the death or the subsequent act of concealing and abandoning the body would be brought to justice. The Commissioner concluded by noting that this investigation underscores the Command's commitment to thoroughly establish the facts of each case before making any conclusions regarding discovered bodies.
