Abia Court Remands Two Accused of S3xually Abusing Four Minors

Two men have been ordered to be held in prison custody by an Abia State court on allegations of s3xually abusing four minors. This information was made public by activist Comrade Ochiegbu Marvelous through a Facebook post published on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

According to Ochiegbu's report, one of the accused individuals, Mr. Ikechukwu Emmanuel, is facing charges related to the alleged defilement of a 9-year-old girl in Umuana Ndume, Ibeku. The second suspect, Mr. Levi, identified as a band owner and musician, stands accused of s3xually abusing three boys at Owerrinta, Isialangwa.

During their court appearance, the defendants reportedly entered pleas of not guilty to the charges. However, in his detailed Facebook update, Mr. Ochiegbu specifically wrote: “Today, Mr. Ikechukwu Emmanuel who was accused in connection with the alleged def!lement of a 9 year old girl at Umuana Ndume, Ibeku, was charged to court and he pleaded guilty.” He further confirmed the appearance of the second suspect, stating: "Also charged to court today was Mr. Levi, a band owner and musician, who was accused of s3xually abusing three boys at Owerrinta, Isialangwa."

Both suspects have been remanded at the Afara Correctional Centre in Umuahia, Abia State. The case has been adjourned, with the next court date set for January 29, 2027.

Comrade Ochiegbu underscored the seriousness of these matters, especially when children are involved. He stated in his post: “These are difficult cases, especially when children are involved. Every child deserves to grow up in safety, dignity and peace. Child abuse must never be normalised, hidden or tolerated.”

He extended his appreciation to his dedicated team, particularly Comrade Felix, Head of Intervention, and the entire Abia State Chapter of the Behind Bars Human Rights Foundation, for their commitment to serving humanity. Special gratitude was also directed towards the Gender Based Department of the Abia State Police Command SCID, including the DC SCID and AC CID, for their efforts in ensuring these cases received proper attention within the justice system. He also acknowledged the Magistrate of the Family Court in Umuahia.

Concluding his message, Ochiegbu reiterated a strong stance against child abuse and human rights infractions. He urged: “SAY NO TO CHILD DEFILEMENT. SAY NO TO R*PE. SAY NO TO S3XUAL ABUSE. SAY NO TO EVERY FORM OF HUMAN RIGHTS INFRACTION. Let us protect our children. Let us speak up. Let us demand justice through the proper channels.” He specifically commended CP Afolabi Wilfred and the State SCID Gender-based Department for their excellent work.
