Kaduna: Four Injured in Farmer-Herder Land Encroachment Scuffle

A confrontation between local farmers and herders in Mahauta Village, located within Kaduna State's Kaura Local Government Area, was brought under control by security operatives following reports of alleged farm encroachment.

The violent encounter unfolded around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Troops from Sector 7 of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), who are stationed in Manchok, were dispatched to the scene after receiving an alert about the dispute. Upon arrival, the military personnel successfully de-escalated the volatile situation, preventing it from worsening.

Investigations at the site revealed that four individuals had sustained various injuries during the fracas; these included two members of the herding community and two farmers. All injured parties were promptly transported to the Primary Health Care Centre in Manchok to receive necessary medical attention.

In the aftermath of the incident, authorities took into custody the Ardo of Dakachi along with the youth leaders from the affected communities. They are currently being questioned as part of ongoing efforts to ascertain the full details and underlying causes of the violent confrontation. A robust security presence remains deployed in the vicinity to avert any further outbreaks of violence and to help restore peace and harmony among the residents.
