Troops Apprehend Four, Eleven Terr*rists Surrender in Yobe Operations

Nigerian military forces, operating under the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have announced significant operational successes in Yobe State, leading to the apprehension of four suspected Boko Haram terr*rists and the voluntary surrender of eleven others. These details were officially released by Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for Operation HADIN KAI, in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

The comprehensive statement highlighted that these achievements, which also included the arrest of nine suspected drug dealers, took place within the period of September 15 to 22, 2026. One notable operation involved troops from the 27 Task Force Brigade, working in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). They orchestrated a night ambush east of Azare Village in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State around 11:00 pm on September 21, 2026. During this encounter, the forces engaged suspected terr*rists in a firefight, demonstrating superior firepower.

Following the engagement, a thorough sweep of the area resulted in the arrest of four suspected terr*rists. Observations of blood traces in the vicinity suggested that some of the fleeing terr*rist elements might have sustained injuries. Items recovered from the scene included four bicycles, a substantial quantity of groceries, one sheep, and expended 7.62mm Special ammunition casings. The apprehended suspects and all recovered items are currently in military custody, pending further investigation, as exploitation of the area continues.

In a separate but related development, troops from the Brigade also detained nine suspected drug dealers during a routine patrol conducted in Buni Yadi, another community within Gujba LGA, on September 19, 2026. These suspects were found in possession of a large quantity of suspected illicit drugs, including cannabis, along with two mobile phones and a cash sum of N85,900. This action is part of broader efforts to disrupt criminal activities that could potentially undermine security and create an environment conducive to terr*rism and other forms of violent crime. The drug suspects and their seized exhibits have since been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and necessary legal action.

The cumulative successes recorded during the specified week, including the surrender of the eleven terr*rists and the recovery of a vehicle, ammunition, and other logistical items, underscore the effectiveness of sustained operational pressure on terr*rist elements and their support networks.
