Rivers State: Abducted Woman's Dismembered Body Found in Ahoada West

Tragedy has struck the Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, where the dismembered remains of a woman, yet to be identified, were discovered floating in a local river. The victim is believed to have been abducted from Ahoada Minta in Ahoada East Local Government Area before being taken to Ogoda community in Ahoada West, where her body parts were allegedly harvested by suspected spiritualists and subsequently discarded into the waterway.

Chief Obutu Tom, the Traditional Ruler of Ogoda Community, confirmed the distressing incident to journalists. He recounted receiving the initial report on September 12, 2026, while he was in Port Harcourt. Upon learning of the gruesome act, Chief Tom immediately cut short his visit and promptly informed the police.

According to Chief Tom, “That was on the 12th September, I was in Port Harcourt when I received the first phone call informing me that some boys, about five in number, had grouped themselves together, conspired, and abducted a girl from Ahoada Minta, Ahoada East, to Ogoda community; after which, the girl was k!lled; her breasts were removed, her private part was removed, and her heart was taken. They then went and dropped her body in a stream very close to the village.”

He continued, detailing his immediate response: “After I entered the community and carried out my preliminary investigation. I said no. I cannot allow such a thing to happen in my area. I had to do the needful; so I went to the police and gave my report to them.”

The recovery of the corpse was a collaborative effort, involving days of meticulous coordination among the community leadership, the police, and local government authorities. Chief Tom further elaborated on the recovery operation: “On the 19th of September 2026, the security men, the Ahoada East Chairman, the Ahoada West Chairman, and other prominent people moved to Ogoda community. Without minding anything, we went into the swamp, and finally recovered the corpse floating on the water.”

Mr. Eugene Epelle, the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, also corroborated the incident. He assured the distressed residents that every individual implicated in the heinous murder of the young woman would face the full force of justice.
