Anambra Police Detain 22-Year-Old in N3m Ransom Self-Abduction Case

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the apprehension of Nwachukwu Chidubem Blessing, a 22-year-old woman, over allegations of conspiracy, fraud, and orchestrating her own abduction. This development follows the payment of a N3 million ransom by her family.

Operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Awkuzu carried out the arrest, acting on reliable intelligence gathered during their inquiry into a reported kidn*pping. Reports initially indicated that the lady was taken captive on August 29, 2026, somewhere along the Onitsha–Asaba Expressway. Despite her family reportedly paying the N3 million ransom, she was not freed, which led the police to intensify their investigation.

Through persistent intelligence work and diligent investigative efforts, police personnel successfully tracked down the supposed victim on the afternoon of September 18, 2026. She was found and recovered from a room in Asaba, Delta State. Initial findings from the ongoing probe suggest that the woman allegedly collaborated with a female associate named Onyinye, whose full identity remains unknown, and an unidentified male accomplice to orchestrate her own kidn*pping scheme and extort funds from her relatives.

The apprehended suspect is currently cooperating with law enforcement, providing crucial details to help fully understand the incident and to assist in identifying and capturing her alleged collaborators. The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, has issued directives for a thorough and intensified investigation.
