Rivers Community Seeks Justice for Father of Four Slain by Gunmen

A tragic incident has unfolded in the Emulation community of Abua/Odual Local Government Area, Rivers State, where unidentified gunmen fatally shot Kamadioye Krama, a father of four. The circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting, which took place around 8 pm on Friday, are still unclear.

Monday Krama, the deceased’s elder brother, recounted the events to newsmen on Saturday via telephone, expressing profound sorrow over his brother's untimely death. He explained that Kamadioye had gone to the site where preparations were underway for a planned coronation ceremony. "I was in Port Harcourt when we heard about the killing of my brother. I am in the village now," Monday Krama stated. "From what I heard, he went to the farm. When he returned in the evening, he went to have his haircut. After barbing his hair, he went to the town where youths in the community were arranging canopies ahead of the coronation of a stakeholder in the community, Mr ThankGod. Suddenly, the gunmen came out from nowhere and started shooting. They shot him dead. That is what happened."

Monday Krama refuted earlier claims that the gathering was politically motivated. He clarified, "It was not a political gathering. My brother was just there, standing and watching as the youths were arranging canopies for the coronation of Mr ThankGod on Saturday." The grieving family is now appealing for justice, urging the police to thoroughly investigate the killing and ensure that those responsible are brought to account. "All we are asking is justice. Let the police investigate the incident and ensure those behind my brother’s death are prosecuted," he emphasized, confirming that Kamadioye Krama is survived by his wife and four children.

Following the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Abua/Odual Police Division, along with his team, visited the bereaved family. An official complaint regarding the murder has also been lodged at the Abua/Odual Police Division.

Confirming the development, Assistant Superintendent of Police Blessing Agabe, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, assured the public that an investigation is actively underway to apprehend the perpetrators. Agabe affirmed, "Yes, I can confirm the incident. Investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of the victim and determine what led to the unfortunate incident. The command remains committed to uncovering the facts and ensuring that appropriate action is taken based on the outcome of the investigation."
