Thai Man Arrested for Alleged Fish Abuse, Confesses to Past Animal Cruelty

Authorities in Bangkok, Thailand, have apprehended a 51-year-old man, Sutthichai Boonlert, following allegations of s£xually abusing his neighbour's koi fish. The arrest came after CCTV footage reportedly captured the incident, prompting Boonlert to confess to police about similar past acts, including one involving a pregnant dog. He is accused of using the mouth of a helpless koi fish from Bobby Anong's pond for self-gratification.

The disturbing incident, recorded by surveillance cameras on September 7, 2026, showed Sutthichai disrobing before entering the pond in a serene Bangkok neighbourhood. The footage allegedly revealed him with a s£x toy, interacting with the koi fish, and then moving to a secluded spot where the abuse reportedly continued. Pond owner Bobby Anong reportedly screamed upon discovering his neighbour's actions and pursued him as the suspect fled on a bicycle, gathering his clothes.

Bobby subsequently lodged a formal complaint at the Thung Song Hong district police station. Detectives initiated a search for the suspect, who they believed resided close by. On September 10, Sutthichai was located walking in the Chiang Kong Lak Si area, near Anong's residence, reportedly still wearing the same attire from the escape. He attempted to evade capture upon spotting officers but was apprehended after a brief chase.

Further investigations revealed Sutthichai's history with similar incidents, with him reportedly admitting to a pattern of s£xual acts involving animals. Police Colonel Yutthasil Karin, the superintendent of Thung Song Hong Police Station, confirmed Sutthichai's alleged confession to the unusual s£xual conduct. Colonel Karin stated, "He faces charges including trespassing, property damage, acts causing public disgrace and animal cruelty. The owner has also confirmed that they wish to pursue legal action."

During interrogation, the suspect asserted his initial intention was merely to bathe in the pond, but claimed he became aroused when a fish swam close to him. He explained his actions by stating he lacked a girlfriend and the financial means to engage pr0stitutes, leading him to s£xually abuse the fish. He also reportedly informed police he was under the influence of drugs at the time. Sutthichai was quoted saying, "I have done similar things with other fish in the past, but koi were tougher and less painful. Years ago, I also did something similar with a pregnant dog, and I was arrested by Bang Khen district police. I have even used dolls that I found in rubbish piles."

Bobby Anong, the indignant owner, revealed he had been cultivating koi fish for approximately seven to eight years. He noted that Sutthichai occasionally bathed in his outdoor fish pond without initial concern. However, Anong grew suspicious as his fish started dying inexplicably, presenting with "bruised and twisted" bodies. This prompted him to adjust his CCTV camera angle, which subsequently captured the egregious act. Anong expressed his relief, stating, "I'm grateful to the police for catching him. I was worried because he uses drugs and carries a knife, so he could hurt someone, especially women or children. What makes it even more frightening is that he was bold enough to s*xually abuse a fish." To prevent future occurrences, Anong plans to install a fence around his pond.
