The armed individuals responsible for the abduction of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have reportedly set a staggering N20 million ransom for the release of each corps member. According to a report by LIB, the incident involved 15 corps members who were en route from Bayelsa State to Abuja, having just concluded their mandatory three-week orientation program. Their journey was interrupted along the Aloma-Egane Expressway, situated in the Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, where they were seized by the gunmen.

A relative of one of the victims confirmed the ransom demand to Daily Trust, stating, "One of our daughters who was kidn*pped on her way from Bayelsa State to Abuja after completing three weeks orientation camp. The kidn*ppers are requesting N20 million naira."

This development follows an earlier confirmation from the Kogi State Police Command regarding the kidn*pping of several passengers, including NYSC members, along the aforementioned route. The Command had previously disclosed that a joint operation by security personnel led to the successful rescue of 11 abducted individuals, which included the drivers of the two vehicles involved in the incident. Efforts, the police stated, were still underway to locate and secure the remaining captives.

Families of those still held captive have since issued fervent appeals to the Federal Government, the NYSC management, and various security agencies, urging them to intensify their operations to ensure the swift and safe release of their loved ones.
