FCT: Missing Commercial Cyclist's Decomposed Remains Uncovered in Abandoned Structure

Full Story
A commercial motorcyclist, Nura Yusuf, who had been reported missing for several weeks, was tragically found deceased inside an uncompleted building within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The grim discovery was made on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at an abandoned structure situated around the Gas Pipeline area in Unguwar Sabo-Tasha, along the Abaji-Gwagwalada Road.
According to reports from Daily Trust, Yusuf, a native of Bagwa Local Government Area in Kano State, had last been seen picking up passengers en route to the Gas Pipeline vicinity. It is suspected that he was subsequently strangled in that area, leading to his demise.
The decomposing remains of the cyclist were brought to light by local farmers who were on their way to their farms. They detected a strong, unpleasant odour emanating from the building, prompting them to investigate further, where they then stumbled upon the body. This account was corroborated by Ibrahim Baba, a close associate of the deceased, who spoke to the publication on Monday, August 24, 2020. Baba confirmed that Nura Yusuf's phone had been unreachable since he was reported missing until the discovery of his corpse.
Upon being alerted, police officers from the Abaji Division were promptly mobilised to the scene. A police source, who preferred to remain anonymous, verified the finding of the decomposed body. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the body was interred at the site of discovery, according to both Baba and the police source.
Nura Yusuf, who resided in Abaji town, is survived by his pregnant wife. His untimely death has cast a pall of sorrow over his family and community.
