Edo Security Corps Nabs Two Suspects Over Million-Naira Wig Heist in Benin

The Edo State Security Corps has successfully apprehended two individuals suspected of carrying out a high-value robbery at a hair salon in Benin City. The arrests follow a report by the owner of Aimas hair shop, located in the GRA area of Benin, concerning the theft of wigs valued at several millions of Naira.

Security footage from the establishment played a crucial role in identifying the culprits. The video evidence shows a male suspect brandishing a firearm, using it to intimidate sales staff before confining them to an inner room. Simultaneously, a female accomplice was seen rapidly collecting approximately 90 bundles of human hair from mannequins, stuffing them into a bag. The operation was reportedly executed using a mini-bus painted in the state-approved colours.

Following their apprehension, law enforcement officials recovered 35 bundles of human hair from the suspects. The grateful business owner commended the swift response of the security corps, noting that a total of three individuals – two men and one woman – were involved in the robbery. While the female suspect and the driver have been taken into custody, the primary male suspect remains at large.

During their public parade, the apprehended male suspect asserted his innocence, claiming he was merely a driver hired to transport the culprits to their destination, unaware of their criminal intentions. The Edo State Security Corps confirmed that both the arrested suspects and the recovered items have been handed over to the Intelligence Rapid Response Team of the Nigerian Police for further investigation and prosecution.
