Dubai-Based Nigerian Woman Vanishes in Lagos; Police Declare Murder Suspects Wanted

The family of a 26-year-old Nigerian woman who resided in Dubai is grappling with uncertainty after her alleged robbery and suspected murder in Lagos, unable to confirm if she is alive or deceased. Chukwunyere Esther Chinaza was previously declared missing by the Nigeria Police Force, who noted she was last observed on June 22, 2026, following her return from Dubai alongside a male companion. The police bulletin described Chinaza as a 26-year-old fair-skinned Igbo woman of tall to average height, with her last known residence at Horizon Estate, Ikate, Lagos State. The beauty entrepreneur's Instagram handle is @pretty_nazee, and her final post was dated June 21, the day before her disappearance.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2026, the Nigeria Police Force issued a Special Police Gazette Bulletin, naming two individuals, Ajibola Obateru and Folawiyo Balogun Alagbado, as wanted in connection with the alleged conspiracy and murder. In the bulletin regarding Obateru, police claimed he conspired with others to assault Chinaza, absconded with her body, and stole her personal possessions. The alleged incident reportedly took place at the Shoreline axis of Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos. Obateru was identified as a 33-year-old Yoruba man, approximately 5.9 feet tall, slender, fair-skinned, and possessing an oval face. His last known address was provided as Ajoda New Town, Ibadan, Oyo State.

A separate bulletin declared Alagbado wanted for the same case, alleging his involvement in conspiring with others to attack Chinaza, leading to her suspected killing and the relocation of her body to an undisclosed place. Police also stated that her belongings were taken by the suspect. The full circumstances surrounding Chinaza’s disappearance and the accusations against the wanted individuals are currently under police investigation. The police have appealed to the public for any information regarding Chinaza’s whereabouts or the suspects, urging them to contact the SCID, Panti, or the nearest police station.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, one of Chinaza’s brothers expressed the family's escalating worry after her disappearance, especially as subsequent investigations allegedly implicated certain individuals. "My sister’s name is Chukwunyere Esther Chinaza from Imo State. The guy lured my sister from Dubai to Lagos here on June 18. From June 21, she got missing up to now. We have not seen her or her body," he stated. The brother revealed that the family later learned one of the men purportedly linked to the incident had reported himself at the Panti police station. He alleged that this man initially offered police and family members an account of being attacked by his friends, but the family has since grown dissatisfied with the explanations provided concerning Chinaza’s vanishing. He further voiced the family's apprehension about the investigation's speed, urging the police to intensify efforts to locate Chinaza and uncover the truth of what transpired. "We are not relying on those police people on their own investigation. It’s getting to too much. Nothing has been done. No arrest or nothing about those two guys," he lamented. He reiterated that the family’s primary concern remains finding Chinaza. "The only problem here is that I’m not seeing my sister. I’m not seeing her corpse or whether d3ad or alive. That is the problem," he concluded.
