Kebbi Police Nab 29-Year-Old for Alleged Qur'an Desecration

In a bid to maintain public order and uphold the sanctity of religious texts, the Kebbi State Police Command has apprehended a 29-year-old individual, Abubakar Musa, in connection with the alleged ritual desecration of the Holy Qur'an. The incident, which occurred on August 9, 2026, at approximately 7 pm in the Zango area of Zuru, has sparked widespread concern among the Muslim community. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Bashir Usman, preliminary investigations have revealed that Musa allegedly conspired with two other suspects, Rabi'u Tela and Hamza Zango, who are currently at large. The suspects reportedly dug a pit in Zarau Hassan's room and buried a copy of the Holy Qur'an alongside various items deemed fetish, including semen, white and red kolanuts, underwear, dead animals, and other materials. The police have stated that the alleged act was intended to make Zarau Hassan more submissive to her husband, Rabi'u Tela. The Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, has condemned the alleged act, emphasizing that the command will deal decisively with individuals whose actions threaten religious harmony and public order. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the two fleeing suspects, while Abubakar Musa remains in police custody, awaiting charges upon the conclusion of the investigation.
