A chaotic traffic situation unfolded on the Gbagada Expressway in Lagos on Thursday, following two separate accidents that occurred on the busy road. The incidents, which involved major trucks and several other vehicles, led to a significant buildup of traffic, causing frustration for motorists. According to eyewitnesses, the accidents happened in the early hours of the morning, with one of the incidents involving two large trucks and another involving two trailers and five other vehicles. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) swiftly responded to the situation, deploying tow trucks, a forklift, and other equipment to clear the wreckage from the road. As of the time of filing this report, one of the trucks had been successfully removed, while efforts were ongoing to clear the second. In a separate incident near Charlie Boy, two trailers and five vehicles were involved in a collision, but all the vehicles had been evacuated, and a tow truck was working to remove the trailers. The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, spoke with our correspondent at the scene, stating that the agency had been working since 5 am to restore normalcy to the expressway. 'As you can see, all efforts are on the ground to remove the wreckage. The first truck has been removed about 45 minutes ago,' he said. Bakare-Oki added that a forklift and two tow trucks were already deployed, with a crane being arranged to complete the operation. 'We have every equipment, a forklift, another two major tow trucks here. But we are trying to arrange another crane now. The arrangement is solid. We will put all hands on deck and ensure the vehicle is removed,' he said. On the secondary accident near Charlie Boy, he said: 'There is another accident at the back by Charlie Boy involving two trailers and five vehicles. All five vehicles have been evacuated. A tow truck is at that spot too, about to remove the two tow trucks and the two trailers that are involved in the secondary accident.'
