In a shocking turn of events, a woman from Indiana has been taken into custody for allegedly murdering her father and removing his heart. According to the Porter County Sheriff's Office, 32-year-old Serena Desiree Dolnics was booked into jail on a murder charge. The incident occurred at the family's home in Valparaiso, about 50 miles southeast of Chicago, where police found the body of 69-year-old Gregory Dolnics. The victim had sustained multiple sharp force injuries, including slash wounds to the head, face, back of the neck, and hands, and his heart had been carved out and placed on his abdomen. Serena Dolnics was found at the scene, covered in blood, with slice wounds on her hands, which she claimed were caused by gardening tools. She told the police that she and her father had a good relationship, despite occasional small disagreements. However, an autopsy revealed that Gregory Dolnics died from multiple sharp force injuries, and his death was ruled a homicide. The police recovered three knives with blood on them from the house. Serena Dolnics appeared in court on Thursday, wearing a suicide vest, and pleaded not guilty to the murder charge. She has a history of run-ins with the law, including convictions for substance abuse, driving while intoxicated, and public intoxication. A judge ordered that she be held without bond, and she is scheduled to appear in court again on August 1 for a hearing to determine the status of her legal representation.
