Borno State Sees Arrest of Notorious Boko Haram Informant

In a significant breakthrough, security forces in Borno State have apprehended a key Boko Haram operative, identified as Abulfatahi, who was implicated in the recent attack on Cross Kauwa and a series of kidnappings in the area. According to intelligence sources, the suspect was taken into custody on July 27, following a meticulous operation that tracked down members of a terrorist intelligence network active in the region. It was disclosed that Abulfatahi had been working under the instructions of a high-ranking Boko Haram commander known as Akilu, who is believed to be in charge of terrorist activities in Dabar Masara and Garin Mace. During initial questioning, Abulfatahi confessed to collecting taxes on behalf of the terrorist leader and facilitating the selection of individuals for abduction around Monguno. Furthermore, investigators uncovered two telephone numbers allegedly linked to Akilu from the suspect's mobile phone, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the terrorist network. The arrest of Abulfatahi and two other members of the same network, who were earlier transferred to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre for further investigation, marks a crucial step forward in the fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region.
