Ondo Father Arrested for Inflicting Severe Burns on Daughter with Hot Iron

A disturbing incident has unfolded in Ondo State, where a middle-aged man, identified as Amos Paul, has been taken into custody by the police for allegedly subjecting his daughter to a horrific form of punishment. According to the Ondo State Police Command, the suspect used a hot pressing iron to burn his daughter's private parts as a means of disciplining her for bed-wetting. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed that the incident occurred at the suspect's residence in Unaun, Upenme, within the Owo Local Government Area. The victim, who sustained severe injuries from the ordeal, was promptly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo for medical attention. Upon receiving the report, detectives from the 'A' Division in Owo swiftly responded to the scene, apprehended the suspect, and took him into custody. The case has been transferred to the Gender Unit for a thorough investigation and further necessary actions, in line with established protocols. The state Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has condemned the alleged act, describing it as cruel and completely unacceptable. He emphasized the Command's commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society, including children, from all forms of abuse and exploitation. The Commissioner urged the public to report cases of child abuse and domestic violence to the nearest police station, assuring that offenders will be brought to justice.
