Katsina Joint Operation Nabs Three Suspected Terrorist Drug Peddlers

A collaborative effort involving the Nigerian Army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has resulted in the apprehension of three individuals suspected of supplying illicit substances to terrorist groups and other criminal elements operating within Katsina State. The joint security operation took place at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
Troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Malumfashi, stationed in Kafur, combined forces with operatives from the NDLEA Area Command, also based in Malumfashi, to conduct the raid. Their target was Kagara village, located in the Kafur Local Government Area, where they descended on identified drug distribution points.
Security sources confirmed the arrest of three suspects during the operation: Mohammed Lawan, aged 34; Muhawiya Haruna, aged 40; and Junadata Usman, also 40 years old. A range of items were seized from the suspects, including substances believed to be cannabis sativa, various quantities of tramadol capsules, pregabalin, diazepam, Extol-5 tablets, rubber solution, and a spirit known as “Suck and Die.”
Initial investigations, according to the sources, suggest that these individuals were allegedly involved in the distribution of hard drugs and other intoxicating substances to terrorists and criminal factions active in Kafur and its surrounding communities.
The arrested suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, have since been transferred to the NDLEA Area Command in Malumfashi for further investigation and potential legal proceedings. This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of security agencies to dismantle the logistical and supply networks that fuel terrorism and various forms of criminality across Katsina State.
