The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the apprehension of 202 individuals, consisting of 102 males and 100 females, following a recent operation. These suspects face allegations related to running brothels, possessing and distributing suspected illicit narcotics, among other criminal activities. The intelligence-driven exercise, carried out on Saturday, also resulted in the seizure of five motor vehicles, ten tricycles, and ten motorcycles due to various traffic infractions.

SP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Command, issued a statement on Sunday verifying the successful operation. He disclosed that the Deputy Commissioner of Police, who heads the Department of Operations, spearheaded the initiative with support from other command personnel. According to SP Edafe, the special operatives, acting on reliable intelligence gathered by the State Intelligence Department (SID), targeted known black spots, brothels, and suspected drug distribution centres within the Asaba metropolis. This intensified campaign against criminal enclaves and hotspots in Asaba forms part of the command's ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities throughout Delta State.

The official communication detailed the outcome, stating: “The operation resulted in the arrest of 202 suspects, comprising 102 males and 100 females, for offences bordering on operating brothels, possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs, and other related crimes.” Furthermore, the statement highlighted that “The operatives also impounded five (5) motor vehicles, ten (10) tricycles, and ten (10) motorcycles for violations of extant traffic regulations, the state-imposed restriction on tricycle operations, and the ban on motorcycles in designated areas.”

In a related development, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, the state's Commissioner of Police, reiterated “the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained enforcement operations against all forms of criminality.” CP Oyeniyi reassured the populace that “the Command will continue to deny criminal elements the space to operate” and called upon residents to maintain vigilance and provide the police with accurate and prompt information.
