Soldiers Apprehend Suspect Following Deadly Plateau Village Attack

Personnel from Sector 6, operating under Operation Enduring Peace, have taken an individual into custody in connection with an assault attributed to alleged Fulani militia. This incident occurred in Rinyan village, situated within the Tahoss community of Riyom Local Government Area in Plateau State, resulting in the fatality of one woman and injuries to another.
According to reports from LIB, the assailants shot and killed Mrs. Hudung Luja, a 40-year-old farmer, and wounded another female while they were engaged in farming activities.
Sources within the security apparatus indicated that military personnel mobilized around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Their deployment followed intelligence reports detailing an incursion by suspected armed Fulani militia into the aforementioned community. Upon reaching the scene, the troops discovered one individual deceased, with another having suffered gunshot injuries. The wounded person was subsequently transported to the General Hospital in Riyom to receive urgent medical care.
These same sources confirmed that the soldiers promptly gave chase to the attackers who had fled the scene; however, direct engagement was not established. Nevertheless, one individual believed to be involved was apprehended during the pursuit and is presently being held for questioning as part of ongoing investigative efforts.
The armed forces have been conducting sustained and heightened operations across Plateau State, aiming to suppress violent incursions and ensure the arrest of perpetrators behind such criminal acts.
