EXCLUSIVE(SAHARA REPORTERS): Alleged Trafficker Mocks Father of Abducted Lagos Boy, Claims N1.5M Sale, Anambra Location

New details have surfaced regarding the disappearance of three-year-old Ibrahim Owoduni, following the release of audio recordings by SaharaReporters. These recordings reportedly feature a man, identified as "Ibekwe" and believed to be involved in the child's trafficking, openly taunting the boy's father. Speaking from Anambra State, the suspect claimed to be holding Ibrahim and ridiculed ongoing police efforts to locate the child, even urging the distressed father to continue funding the search.
This disturbing telephone conversation, part of a series of exclusive audio recordings, emerges months after Ibrahim was reportedly abducted from his family home in Iba New Site, Iyana Iba, Lagos State. The toddler was allegedly sold for N1.5 million before being moved to Anambra. Throughout the call, the suspected trafficker repeatedly mocked Ahmed Owoduni, Ibrahim's father, boasting about his evasion of security agencies despite active investigations.
"I dey hear all the things wey dey happen. We never see the pikin. Do you know who dey follow you talk? Na person wey dey carry the pikin come. The person wey carry the pikin come give for Anambra, na him dey follow you talk," the suspect stated, confirming his involvement in transporting the child. In a further attempt to distress Mr. Owoduni, the caller sarcastically offered for the father to speak with his son. "You wan follow your pikin talk abi? Bring that boy make him say, 'Daddy, hello Daddy,'” he challenged.
The trafficker also dared the father to rely on law enforcement to find him. "Send the boy picture for my WhatsApp. If you want see the pikin, go meet the police wey dey find me. Make you dey pay money for the tracker, dey pay am dey go. You dey hear me?" he said.
In another segment of the conversation, the suspect mentioned the arrest of his sister, who is reportedly among those currently detained by the police. "Tell the policeman that Ibekwe call you himself from Anambra. You put my sister there with the police and you want to settle with me." He, however, tried to absolve his sister, stating, "It is not her fault. Na the man talk say they have a package." The caller then proposed a swap, suggesting his sister's release in exchange for Ibrahim.
These audio revelations have reportedly intensified concerns among investigators, who suspect an organized child trafficking syndicate operating across Lagos and Anambra states. SaharaReporters had previously reported Ibrahim's disappearance on January 17, 2026, from outside his residence at 13 Orji Street, Iba New Site, Iyana Iba, Lagos. His father confirmed reporting the incident to the Adolf Police Station and initiating a community and social media search.
A significant lead emerged from CCTV footage showing Sadiq Ige, a neighbour, leading the three-year-old away just before he vanished. Following his apprehension, Ige reportedly confessed to handing Ibrahim over to another suspect, Adetayo Yusuf. Subsequent police inquiries led to the arrest of Vera Okon, who allegedly admitted to selling Ibrahim for N1.5 million and taking him to a village in Ihiala, Anambra State.
Mr. Owoduni recounted to SaharaReporters that he spent N500,000 to charter a bus for police officers and suspects from Lagos to Anambra, hoping to recover his son. However, the police team returned to Lagos without Ibrahim, reportedly failing to locate either the child or the alleged buyer. Owoduni also claimed the driver described the destination community as a "no-go area" known for child trafficking activities.
