Nasarawa Community Attack: Ex-Soldier Killed, Woman Abducted Near FCT

A shocking incident unfolded in a residential area bordering the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nasarawa State, where suspected gunmen carried out a deadly attack. The assailants reportedly k!lled a retired Army officer and abducted a woman during the early hours of Friday, July 3, 2026.
Police sources confirmed that the unfortunate event took place around 12:45 a.m. at Plot 038, PGC Community, an area adjacent to Jikwoyi in the FCT. The attackers reportedly stormed the home of 46-year-old Silas Orite. During the invasion, they seized his wife, Bukola Oluwatoyin Silas, 40, and took her away to an unknown location.
Tragically, the Community Chief Security Officer (CSO), Master Warrant Officer Reuben Yelwa, a 61-year-old retired personnel of the Nigerian Army, intervened when he heard the commotion, attempting to provide assistance to the victims. However, he was fatally shot by the criminals.
Following the attack, police operatives promptly visited the scene. They meticulously documented evidence and have since launched a full-scale investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, security agencies have ramped up their efforts to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted woman and to apprehend those responsible for this violent act. Enhanced area domination operations are also being conducted to deter any further criminal activities in the region.
