In a series of daring operations, the Nigerian military has successfully foiled multiple kidnap attempts and rescued 10 victims in Plateau and Kaduna states. According to a statement released by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the spokesman for the Joint Military Task Force, the operations were carried out within the last 48 hours. The military launched 'decisive operations' to track down fleeing suspects and reaffirmed its commitment to securing highways and communities within its Joint Operations Area. The statement noted that the operations were a demonstration of the military's unwavering commitment to maintaining security and guaranteeing the safety of commuters and residents. In one of the operations, troops of Sector 6 responded to reports of suspected kidnappers who blocked the highway along the Hawan Kibo–Rafin Sayin axis in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The troops discovered an abandoned ash-coloured Honda vehicle and immediately launched a thorough search and rescue operation, which led to the rescue of six kidnapped passengers. The passengers, who were traveling from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Jos, are currently safe, although the driver of the vehicle remains missing. In another operation, troops of Sector 5 foiled an ongoing abduction attempt in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, rescuing a pastor and his wife from the clutches of kidnappers. The couple, who sustained injuries during the initial assault, were evacuated to Bokkos Medical Clinic for treatment. Troops of Sector 7 also responded to reports of suspected terrorists blocking the highway between Rafi Tagwai and Angwan Dariya in Kaduna State, rescuing two injured passengers and recovering eight empty cases of 7.62mm special ammunition. The military has reaffirmed its commitment to ridding the highways and communities of criminal elements, stating that it will not relent in its efforts to maintain security and guarantee the safety of residents and commuters.
