Kwara Kidnap Victims Regain Freedom Thanks to Nigerian Army Operation

In a bold move to tackle insecurity in the North Central region, troops of the Nigerian Army, under the Joint Task Force, Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims in Kwara State. The military operation, which took place along the Gidan Dogo Ekaa axis, was part of a broader effort to rid the region of criminal elements. According to a statement released by the military on its X handle on Saturday, June 6, the rescue operation was carried out during an aggressive fighting patrol on June 3, 2026. The troops, deployed at Patrol Base Babasango, encountered the victims, who had managed to escape from their captors, and immediately took them into protective custody. The rescued individuals, identified as Mr. Temitope Samuel, 42, and Mr. Mohammed Sani, 40, were provided with comprehensive medical care, psychological support, and all necessary assistance at Patrol Base Babanla. The military has reaffirmed its commitment to sustained operations against criminal groups and is working to reunite the victims with their families. The successful rescue operation is a testament to the military's dedication to ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the region.
