Retired Major General Abubakar Rabe and Wife Plead for Rescue in Bandit-Released Video

A disturbing video has surfaced showing retired Major General Abubakar Rabe and his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, begging for the government's intervention to secure their release from captivity. The couple was abducted along the Karaduwa–Matazu Road in Katsina State last week. In the video, the wife of the retired army general relays the demands of their abductors, who are seeking the release of three of their members: Sani, Aminu, and Nasiru. The terrorists also want the return of livestock allegedly seized from them. According to the general's wife, two of the individuals the terrorists want released were arrested in Jikamshi, while the third was arrested in Kano. She appealed to the Katsina State Government and the leaders of five local government areas to grant the terrorists' demands to ensure their safe release. The retired major general, who spoke briefly in the video, called for efforts to promote peace, stating that their abductors had expressed interest in dialogue and peaceful coexistence. The couple was ambushed and kidnapped on Saturday, May 30, while travelling to Katsina with their driver, Abdullahi Sa’idu, along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area.
