Edo Kidnapping Case: Ogun Police Nab Two Key Suspects

The Ogun State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime, arresting two key suspects linked to a high-profile case in Edo State. According to a statement released by the Command, the suspects, identified as Gafaru Adamu, 25, and Muhammed Sanni, 20, were apprehended in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode following an intelligence-led operation by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit. The operation built on earlier arrests made by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service, highlighting the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling crime. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects are wanted in connection with a kidnapping and murder incident in the Okada area of Edo State. Further intelligence suggests that they may be part of a larger syndicate, allegedly comprising seven members, responsible for the crime. During the course of the investigation, operatives recovered a pair of police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones from the suspects. Given that the alleged offences occurred outside Ogun State, the suspects and recovered exhibits will be transferred to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution. Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their coordinated and intelligence-driven operation, emphasizing the Command's commitment to dismantling criminal networks operating across state lines. He reaffirmed that the Ogun Police Command will continue to strengthen intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration to prevent criminals from using the state as a safe haven or transit route. The Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies, stressing the importance of such cooperation in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime.
