Real Warri Pikin Seeks Forgiveness Over Viral Timaya Stage Lift Incident

Full Story
Comedian Real Warri Pikin has publicly tendered an apology to Nigerians following a widely circulated video from the 2026 AFRIMMA Awards in Dallas, which captured a controversial moment with singer Timaya on stage. The award-winning comedian, who received the Best Stand-Up Comedian honour at the event, detailed how the incident unfolded. She recounted that Timaya had requested a female volunteer to join him during his live performance. Although she initially hesitated, expressing reluctance to jump on stage, she eventually complied with the request.
Real Warri Pikin explained that Timaya had reassured her everything would be fine, but the situation quickly turned awkward when the singer proceeded to lift her while performing. She noted that those present at the awards ceremony found the moment highly entertaining. However, the online reception was starkly different, with many social media users interpreting the act as a boundary-crossing behaviour and generating significant backlash.
Addressing the controversy in a video, the comedian pleaded, “Make una take am easy, I beg. I’m sorry. I take full responsibility of my actions.” She further clarified that some reactions stemmed from misconceptions about her character, asserting that the stage incident did not accurately represent who she is. “I understand where una dey come from. Maybe some people are just genuinely concerned,” she added, urging Nigerians to temper their criticisms. Real Warri Pikin concluded by stating she had no intention of disrespecting her husband or engaging in any inappropriate conduct, categorizing the episode as an “awkward” occurrence during an otherwise “entertaining” stage show.
