Full Story
A tragic incident unfolded in Taraba State, where five traders lost their lives after a military Hilux veered off course and ploughed into a bustling market. The unfortunate event took place in Chanchangi town, situated within the Takum Local Government Area, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Sources from Daily Trust indicate that the military vehicle involved was providing escort services for traders journeying from Wukari town to Takum. This security measure was necessitated by the alarming frequency of kidn*pping incidents reported along that particular route.
Tony David, a local resident, conveyed in a phone conversation with Daily Trust that the deceased were among the market vendors who had set up their goods by the roadside. He further elaborated that numerous other traders suffered various degrees of injuries during the crash. Following the unfortunate occurrence, both the bodies of the deceased and the injured individuals were transported to the Takum General Hospital for necessary attention.
