Passport holders from the specified nations will not have access to automated border clearance systems. Instead, they must undergo a formal consular review process. For the majority of applicants from these designated countries, the pre-approval screening includes submitting biometric data, specifically fingerprints and official photographs, as part of the requirement.

Several African countries are prominently featured on Canada's 2026 visa-required register. These include Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Cameroon, Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Zimbabwe. Citizens from these nations, among others, must possess a valid visitor visa and passport for travel to or transit through Canada.
