Houthi Airport Strikes Draw 'Serious' Saudi Retaliation Pledge

Full Story
Saudi Arabia's energy minister, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman, declared on Monday that the kingdom, though tested, is prepared to deliver a 'serious' counter-response. This statement follows a series of lethal assaults by Yemen's Houthi group on Riyadh's international airport, which tragically resulted in 18 fatalities.
Speaking at the WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman asserted, "The events of recent weeks are serious. Our response must be equally serious." His comments come after Saturday's Houthi strikes on King Khalid International Airport claimed 13 lives and injured hundreds, marking the deadliest attack on Saudi territory in over a decade.
The Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for these attacks, stating they were in retaliation for what they described as "brutal Saudi aggression" against regions under their control in western Yemen. Earlier in the week, four individuals had died in separate attacks on Wednesday and Thursday, with an additional fatality reported on Sunday. As of Monday, operations at the extensive King Khalid International Airport, located on the outskirts of Riyadh, remained suspended.
Saudi authorities have released CCTV footage from Saturday's incident, which depicted Muslim pilgrims, dressed in religious attire, waiting in departure lounges. The video then captured a sudden, bright flash that tore through the building, followed by burning debris cascading down.
