United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, has strongly denounced the fatal assault on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, advocating for an immediate cessation of hostilities against civilians and their infrastructure. In a declaration released on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Guterres stated that the incident reportedly resulted in 12 fatalities and hundreds of civilian injuries.
"I am profoundly shocked by and vehemently condemn Saturday’s deadly assault perpetrated by the Houthis on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which reportedly claimed the lives of 12 individuals and wounded hundreds of non-combatants," he declared. The UN's top official further emphasized that "Assaults on civilians and civilian infrastructure constitute a breach of international law. These acts of aggression must cease without delay." This official statement was disseminated via the United Nations Secretary-General’s dedicated online platform.
