Mother accused of k!lling, burying daughter before reporting her missing

A mother was accused of k!lling her daughter before reporting her missing in the United States. 50-year-old Staci Wind of Richwood, West Virginia, has been charged with first-degree m8rder in connection with the death of her daughter, days after the woman was reported missing. Wind was arrested on Saturday, May 23, 2026 in connection with the d3ath of her 26-year-old daughter, Ayla Wind, authorities said. According to a news release cited by WCHS, Ayla Wind was reported missing May 18. Troopers said the arrest came after investigators discovered a shallow grave containing a human body on Friday at Summit Lake in Greenbrier County. Authorities have not released additional details about Ayla Wind’s d3ath or what led investigators to arrest her mother. Staci Wind is being held without bond at Central Regional Jail.
