Real Madrid and Jude Bellingham Eye Fresh Contract Through 2031

Full Story
England's midfield maestro, Jude Bellingham, is reportedly engaged in fruitful discussions with Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid concerning a potential contract extension that could see him remain at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2031. According to a report by BBC Sport on Friday, the 23-year-old Bellingham currently has approximately two and a half years left on his existing agreement. However, Spanish media outlets indicate that an extension is on the horizon, aiming to secure his presence with the club for the foreseeable future.
Bellingham made his move to Real Madrid in 2023 from Borussia Dortmund for a substantial fee of €103 million (£88.5 million). Since then, he has netted 49 goals across 152 appearances for the illustrious Spanish club. His debut season was particularly impactful, where he bagged 19 goals and provided six assists in just 28 La Liga matches, playing a crucial role as Real Madrid clinched both the league title and the UEFA Champions League.
While his prolific goal-scoring figures saw a slight dip in subsequent seasons – recording nine goals and eight assists in the league during the 2024-25 campaign, and six goals with four assists in an injury-affected 2025-26 season – Bellingham's overall contributions have consistently underscored his indispensable value to the team. His blend of creativity, relentless work rate, and tactical adaptability has cemented his status as a pivotal figure in Real Madrid's midfield.
Under manager Jose Mourinho, Bellingham has also commenced the 2026-27 season on a strong note, having already registered three goals and three assists in nine matches. Beyond his attacking prowess, his knack for delivering in critical moments has endeared him to the Bernabeu faithful, establishing him as a fan favourite.
An enhanced contract would not only acknowledge his vital role within the squad but also affirm Real Madrid's commitment to securing one of Europe's most highly-rated midfielders for the long haul. Given that the England international is only 23, he has many prime years ahead, making this potential renewal a strategic long-term investment in the club's domestic and European ambitions.
Bellingham's ascending career has also bolstered his standing with the England national team. He is reported to have scored seven goals during the summer World Cup, where England secured a third-place finish, and was subsequently honoured as the national team’s men’s player of the year. While a formal agreement is yet to be announced, the positive nature of the ongoing discussions suggests a mutual desire from both parties to extend their successful partnership, potentially tying Bellingham to Real Madrid for another five years until 2031.
