Trent Alexander-Arnold's Real Madrid Struggles Fuel Bayern Munich Transfer Talk

Full Story
Trent Alexander-Arnold's tenure at Real Madrid has been under scrutiny, with speculation rising about a potential exit and a possible move to Bayern Munich, a path previously taken by Harry Kane. Football pundit Stan Collymore suggested to Greek betting site Betarades that his former club, Liverpool, would welcome the England international back despite his controversial departure.
Alexander-Arnold left his childhood club, Liverpool, in 2025, a move that angered many fans. He signed with Real Madrid until 2031, but his first season was marred by injuries and inconsistent form, preventing him from truly settling in. Under new coach Jose Mourinho, the right-back is no longer a guaranteed starter, having spent entire matches on the bench, including a recent 4-1 Champions League victory against RB Leipzig on Wednesday. Mourinho often opts for new signing Denzel Dumfries on the right flank or deploys midfielder Federico Valverde in the right-back position.
The Liverpool Echo highlighted Alexander-Arnold's predicament last weekend, stating, "Alexander-Arnold suffers a new humiliation — a clear sign for the former Liverpool star," after he was again omitted from Real's squad in their 4-1 LaLiga win over FC Sevilla. This growing lack of playing time has reportedly led the 28-year-old to quietly consider departing Madrid.
Collymore outlined a possible return to Anfield, saying, "If he says he was a bit naive in thinking that, when you play for Liverpool, Real Madrid are another step up, and if he says all the right things and then gets on the pitch and plays a ball 40 or 50 metres to someone who puts it into the penalty area so Isak can score, then he'll be welcomed back, because football fans are very, very forgiving." Alexander-Arnold boasts an impressive 354 competitive appearances for the Reds.
However, Collymore also sees a future for him at Bayern Munich. "You could also easily see him following Harry Kane's path and moving to a club like Bayern, who would welcome him with open arms. He would charge down the right and play balls to Olise, Díaz and Harry Kane," the 55-year-old, who played for Liverpool from 1995 to 1997, stated. Bayern has been in the market for a new right-back in recent months, with Feyenoord Rotterdam's Givairo Read reportedly back on their radar.
Considering Alexander-Arnold's estimated market value of around €60 million and over four and a half years remaining on his Real contract, the feasibility of Bayern acquiring him remains uncertain. The German champions already have reliable options in Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanisic at right-back, and new signing Nathaniel Brown can cover the position if needed. Meanwhile, Bayern is reportedly looking to offload Sacha Boey in the winter transfer window. For Real Madrid this season, Alexander-Arnold has made six appearances across all competitions, contributing one assist. After missing the World Cup squad under England national-team coach Thomas Tuchel, he recently returned to the national team, earning his 35th and 36th international caps in Nations League matches against Czechia in late September and early October, both resulting in wins.
