Van Bommel Misses PSV's ADO Den Haag Trip on Precautionary Grounds

Full Story
Ruben van Bommel will not feature in PSV's matchday squad for their upcoming away fixture against ADO Den Haag this Saturday afternoon. While the player is not suffering from a direct injury, PSV management has opted to keep him out of the squad as a preventive measure.
According to Jeroen Kapteijns of De Telegraaf, "Van Bommel is not injured, but he is not 100 per cent fit and is being left out of this match to prevent him from getting injured." Kapteijns further elaborated, noting that "The risk is considered too great. The forward has played a lot recently after spending a year on the sidelines with a single cruciate ligament injury."
This decision means coach Bosz will be forced to adjust his forward line. Van Bommel had previously started in PSV's 1-0 loss to Leipzig on Wednesday but will be absent entirely from the ADO Den Haag encounter. Ivan Perisic, another player who featured in the starting XI against Leipzig, will begin Saturday's game from the bench.
Bosz has instead selected Dennis Man, Sven Mijnans, and Ayoni Santos to lead the attack, with this match marking Ayoni Santos's first start for PSV. The reigning league champions are set to kick off their match against ADO Den Haag away from home at 16:30 on Saturday. A victory in this fixture would temporarily elevate PSV to the top of the Eredivisie standings.
PSV's confirmed starting eleven for the match is: Kovar; Dest, Geertruida, Obispo, Kostic; Sano, Mauro, Til; Man, Mijnans, Santos. Future fixtures include a Champions League match on October 20, 2026, and an Eredivisie game on October 24, 2026.
